Australia's National Digital Health Strategy identifies opportunities for digital health to support national reform and address emerging contemporary health system challenges. It does this by focusing on achieving 4 overall outcomes for the health system: digitally enabled, person-centred, inclusive, and data-driven.
Achieving these outcomes will enable healthcare in Australia to become more streamlined and efficient for individuals, the community, providers, industry and governments. This is supported through ongoing efforts across 4 change enablers to drive and progress each outcome. These change enablers are embedded throughout the Strategy Delivery Roadmap and are key to delivering a sustainable, interoperable and inclusive health system for all Australians, now and into the future.
"It’s about time! Digital health … is an absolutely essential part of a world class healthcare system for Australians. It should empower us all to take greater ownership of our personal health, provide greater access to health services, support healthcare workers to achieve better patient outcomes, and enhance public health literacy."
