ePIP exemption review process

To assist general practices applying for an exemption from Practice Incentives Program eHealth Incentive (ePIP) compliance action.

What Does this mean?

Timeframe

1. Notification of Compliance Action

Your general practice (practice) has been identified as not having met the ePIP Shared Health Summary upload target for a specific quarter/s and a letter has been issued by The Department.

No further action from the practice - case is closed

OR

Practice lodges exemption request –proceed to step 2

Your practice will have 28 calendar days to respond from the date the Department of Health and Aged Care (The Department) sent the notification of compliance action to you.

2. Eligibility Check

The Department will conduct an eligibility check on the exemption request your practice has submitted.

Eligibility requirements not met - case is closed

OR

Eligibility requirements met - proceed to step 3

The Department will advise your practice that your request has not been granted and your case is closed.

3. Assessment

The Department will assess the exemption request received by your practice and provide an outcome response to you in writing

Exemption granted – payment released

OR

Further information requested – proceed to step 4

OR

Exemption not granted – case is closed

The Department will provide a response to your practice outlining the findings of the assessment.

4. Further information requested

The Department requires further information with regard to your practice/s exemption request. The Department will notify you in writing requesting additional  information.

Further information is provided - proceed to step 5

OR

Further information is not provided - exemption not granted – case is closed

Your practice will have 21 calendar days to respond from the date The Department sent the request to you.

5. Further information is assessed

The Department will assess the further information requested.

Exemption granted -  payment released

OR

Exemption not granted – case is closed

The Department will provide a response to your practice outlining the findings of the assessment following the provision of further information.

Please note: Any evidence provided should not include information that could identify a patient or otherwise compromise their privacy. All supporting information should have individual patient information de-identified prior to submission.
