Dr Steve Hambleton
MBBS FAMA FRACGP(hon) FAICD, Chief Clinical Adviser for the Australian Digital Health Agency

Dr Steve Hambleton AM MBBS FAMA FRACG(hon) FAICD is a Specialist General Practitioner in Brisbane and a former Queensland State President and Federal President of the Australian Medical Association.
Dr Hambleton is a Specialist Adviser to the Australian Digital Health Agency having been the chairman of the National eHealth Transition Authority and a former Chief Clinical Advisor to the Agency.
Dr Hambleton is co-Chair of the Clinical Reference Group (CRG) with the ACQSHC. The CRG supported the development of the “share by default” legislation to ensure it both delivered on the vision of the Strengthening Medicare Taskforce, of which he was a member, met the needs of the consumer, and was responsive to the concerns of the health care professionals.
He is passionate about improving the health of all Australians and the need to empower all citizens to more deeply engage in their own and their loved ones’ health care, to shift the dial from a sickness-focussed system to a wellness-focussed system.
He strongly believes that safe, secure data sharing with the patient and with all those who treat the patient, controlled by the patient, will result in a better experience of healthcare for the patient and the clinician - leading to better outcomes for the population at a sustainable price.
