Craig Cooper
Craig Cooper has been living with HIV since 2003 and successfully commenced treatments in 2004. He was also diagnosed with HCV in 2014 and was successfully cured by the Hepatitis C treatments soon thereafter. His health consumer experience has been developed through representative positions in non-government and government health services. Populations he represents are: people living with HIV; gay men; people living with HCV; and people who use drugs.
Craig works on behalf of LGBTIQ+ people; people involved in the criminal justice system; and people with disability. Most of his consumer representative work has occurred in population health (blood borne viruses and sexually transmitted infections) and alcohol and other drug programs (court diversion) programs in NSW hospitals, the criminal justice system and non-government organisations.
Craig is Consumer Co-chair for NSW Health Future Health Strategy Strategic Object 1 and Elevating the Human Experience Steering Committee; he is a member of Health Consumers NSW and is a Consumer Advisor for the CEC. Craig holds a post graduate diploma in Clinical Drug Dependence Studies from Macquarie University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Sydney.
