Why a Cyber Champions Network

The Cyber Champions Network is a community of healthcare professionals who, together, foster a proactive, engaged, and security-conscious healthcare ecosystem. The Network is helping strengthen Australia’s defence and response against cyber threats.

Cyber threats are constantly evolving. Criminals are continually seeking out new ways to exploit vulnerabilities and infiltrate systems. Healthcare organisations need to stay one step ahead – to anticipate and proactively address security gaps.

About the Cyber Champions Network

The Cyber Champions Network is a community of Australian healthcare professionals whose collective goal is to uplift cyber awareness and build security culture in individual healthcare provider organisations to, ultimately, build cyber resilience within Australia’s entire healthcare ecosystem.

Cyber champions represent a range of healthcare disciplines from both the public and private sector, general practice, aged care, secondary and tertiary care, pharmacy, information technology, allied health, nursing, midwifery and more.

You will regularly come together to learn and discuss cyber security matters that affect healthcare providers and consumers. You will be well supported by the Agency with ongoing training and resources and opportunities to network and share insights with likeminded people.

Vision and mission

Vision

The Cyber Champions Network is a community of health providers who help build the cyber resilience of Australia’s digital health ecosystem and empower a digitally ready workforce.

  • Cyber resilience is the ability of a healthcare organisation to bounce back quickly to normal operations should a cyber attack happen.
  • Digitally ready workforce focuses on building the digital and data capacity, competency and maturity of our workforce to benefit consumers.

Mission

Members of the network are cyber champions. Cyber champions come together to learn and discuss cyber security matters that impact health providers and consumers today. They are passionate about a united security culture and model positive cyber behaviours.

  • Security culture is the shared values, attitudes and beliefs towards cyber security within an organisation or community. Security culture drives us to make positive behavioural change.
  • Positive cyber behaviours such the ability to identify cyber threats (e.g., email phishing and malware attacks), creating strong passphrases, recognising cyber responsibilities, reporting events and incidents.

Cyber champion responsibilities

You will receive training and support needed – we want you to be the best cyber champion possible and will help you every step of the way.
